Darwin June and July School holidays 2021 break is fast approaching! We will have three weeks break for Darwin public schools.  Starting Saturday 26th June (Private and Independent school holidays may be slightly different – please check with your school).  Students will return to school on 20th July 2021 for Term 3!

Innovation Playground – Saturday 26th June

The Innovation Playground is a family festival of Science, Technology and Innovation!
Between 9am and 2pm on Saturday 26th June, Civic Park in Darwin’s City Centre will come alive with robots, drones, eSports, rockets, and much much more. Enjoy a beautiful dry season day picnic in the park while learning to build a robotic arm, fly a drone, design a spaceship, launch a rocket, code a game, or even challenge a friend while learning to code games for eSports.

Community Fun Day – BeInclusive Games – Friday 2nd July

On Friday the 2nd of July, the Darwin community will get a chance to come together at the
Darwin Waterfront to sample a huge range of ‘all-abilities’ sports and activities in a fun, free school holiday community event. The event is a collaboration between our friends at Clubhouse Territory, Darwin Waterfront Corporation and a vast array of NT based sporting and recreation groups. With over 12 sports to come-n-try, your kids are sure to find a local sport they love! Come and try sessions, wheelchair sports, circus fun and face painting and so much more! Casuarina Pool Party – Tuesday 6th July

There will be a Free Youth Pool Party hosted by YMCA of the NT at Casuarina Pool on Tuesday 6th of July from 3pm—6pm. Free entry for all, youth pool party with music, activities and BBQ. Casuarina Square 

There will be loads of fun happening at Casuarina Square these June July School holidays with the Chillville Fun Fest! In week one there will be a Free Jumping castle set up in the Quarter from 11am to 2pm each day with a new castle each day! In weeks 2 and 3 there will be Free kids activities set up in the Quarter from 11am to 1pm to keep them entertained! Plus enjoy the Kids Movie meal deal where you buy a $10 meal deal and score a FREE movie ticket to BCC Cinemas Casuarina. For more details – head here.

Top End Multi Sports

TEMS will have their popular sports holiday program back this April. Running for one week from Monday 5th to Friday 9th of July. For ages 5 and over –  Daily program or book in for the week.  $70 per day or $260 for the five days.

Program consists of: Soccer, tennis, volleyball, pool time and more. Daily activities have flexibility to suit children. From 8am till after 4pm. The holiday program will be held at Top End Multi Sports Centre at 110 Old McMillans Rd Coconut Grove.

City of Darwin Libraries

City of Darwin Libraries will be hosting loads of FREE fun for the kids these holidays! From movies to drumming monkeys, first aid course and more, there is lots to see and do at City of Darwin in the June and July School Holidays 2021! Spaces to events will be limited. Events are ticketed and tickets will be available at the door 30 minutes prior to the sessions starting. Check out some of the program below. See the full program here

Surf Life Saving NT

Have a whole host of activities and sessions available for kids at various locations including Leanyer Recreation park, Palmerston waterpark and Lake Alexander. They will host pool parties, skates and tunes, hyper the clown and much more. Check out their full 3 wk program here  

City of Palmerston Library

All activities are free and start from 10am every day, there will be a range of FREE activities for school-aged children to enjoy. The Amazing drumming monkeys shows, storytimes, loads of arts and crafts and more. No bookings required but make sure to collect a ticket from our front desk 15 minutes prior to a session starting to join in. Sessions limited to 25 children. See the daily activities here

Taminmin Community Library

Taminimin Community Library located at 70 Challoner Cct Humpty Doo. The Amazing drumming monkeys will also be performing at this library plus lego club, paint and create sessions, movies and more! Check out their Facebook page for more information and to book your spots.

Youth NT

The Office of Youth Affairs publishes calendars to promote a wide range of activities and events happening across the Territory in the School Holiday. From Shaktivities, Royal life saving, digital media, skating, youth drop in centre, hoops 4 health, 3×3 basketball, touch footy clinics and more. Leanyer Recreation Park

Another great option to keep the kids busy and cool these school holidays is to visit Leanyer Recreation park. It is a FREE water recreation park located at 215 Vanderlin Drive Leanyer. The Park consists of dry and wet recreational areas. The wet area includes a swimming lagoon (shallow in many areas – great for toddlers and young children).

There are three new massive water slides for the older kids and a wet playground that is great for all ages. There are large grassed areas for play, BBQ’s, a dry playground, skate park and basketball courts. The Park has lots of shaded areas including over the pool, the wet play area, the skate park and the grassed areas. There are toilets and change room facilities. 

Opening hours during the school holidays are:
9am to 8pm – grassed area and BBQ’s
10am to 6pm – wet play area
11am to 6pm – water slides

Palmerston Water Park

Palmerston Water Park is the second water park in Darwin. It also FREE and open seven days a week. Located at Cnr University Ave and Roystonea Ave (access via Roystonea Ave). The water park includes a 14 metre high – 100 metre long – six-line racer water slide, a wet play area for families and toddlers featuring sprays, water curtains and a shallow wading pool. Another wet play area for teenagers featuring more active water cannons, buckets and high intensity interactive play, a café, toilets and change room facilities, open grassed play area with BBQs, shaded areas and a skate park.
Opening hours during the school holidays are:
9am to 6pm – grassed area and BBQ’s
10am to 6pm – wet play area
11am to 6pm – water slide

Playshack Palmerston

Why not head into the Playshack located in the Hub complex Palmerston (Shop 7, 3 Maluka Drive). Let the kids run and burn their energy and you can enjoy a coffee or drink and a slice of Petra’s Raw cakes available for purchase. The Playshack have extended during school holidays. Their hours will be 8.30 am till 4 pm Monday – Friday. Plus the usual weekend times of Saturday 9 till 5 pm and Sunday 10 am till 4 pm. Entry is only $9.90 per child during the week and bubs under 1 are free. Please remember your socks! Closed Public holidays.

Darwin Ice Skating Centre – special offers!

Our friends at Darwin Ice Skating Centre have some great special offers always on for families! You can skate 1 Parent & 1 Child (5yrs and under) for just $24. Or a family pass of  2 Adults & 2 Children (between 6 Years & 14 Years) is $60.00.

If you buy a pre-paid pass for 10 sessions and receive a 20% discount off the total price. They also have loyalty cards where after 10 skating sessions, you’ll be able to skate for free on the 11th visit. Check out their school holiday ice skate session times here

Palmerston Youth Festival

The festival will kick off on Saturday 10th of July with seven jam packed days of events and competitions that celebrate art, culture, sport, music, and more!
To mark the official opening of the festival, is the territories biggest geek culture celebration; Geekfest Top End. Wrapping up the week of fun will be Suburban Sounds; a free, all ages music concert. This year’s incredible line-up features multi-award-winning Electric Fields as the headline, supported by dance music queen, Tigerlily and local stars, J-MILLA & Yung Milla.
