Darwin September and October holidays 2021 break is fast approaching! We will have two weeks break for Darwin public schools. Starting Saturday 25th September (Private and Independent school holidays may be slightly different – please check with your school). Students will return to school on 11th October for Term 4!

Aqua Park at Darwin Waterfront Lagoon!
If you’re looking for a fun and challenging activity for the family, Aqua Park is the place for you! A great day out for the young (and the young at heart). The configuration of the park allows non-stop paths of entertainment and will always lead you in the right direction to run, jump and slide. There will be loads of fun happening at Casuarina Square these September and October School holidays2021 with the Rainbow Fun Fest! Kicks off Friday 24th September to 10th of October, there will be daily craft activities, jumping castles on the weekends and the $5 meal deals across 8 stores! For more information head here
Top End Multi Sports
TEMS will have their popular sports holiday program back this October. Running for one week from Monday 4th to Thursday 7th of October. For ages 5 and over – Daily program or book in for four days. $70 per day or $230 for the four days.
Program consists of: Soccer, tennis, volleyball, pool time and more. Daily activities have flexibility to suit children. From 8am till after 4pm. (Earlier if required and half days available.) The holiday program will be held at Top End Multi Sports Centre at 110 Old McMillans Rd Coconut Grove.

GO! Girls Only Nights
VR Film lab – Tues 28th to Friday 1st October
Young film making enthusiasts are invited to join us for a this 4-day school holiday intensive, exploring the world of VR film making. Workshops will cover VR film production from scratch, including 360 video recording, video editing, audio refinement, creative writing and experimental filmmaking. This opportunity is open to young people aged 12-17 who live, work or study in Darwin. 18 year olds are welcome if still attending high school. For more information and essential bookings head here
Nightcliff Pool Party – Friday 1st October
There will be a Free Youth Pool Party at Nightcliff Pool on Friday 2nd of October from 3pm—6pm.
Roller Disco at the Ferris Wheel – Friday 1st October
Join our friends from Darwin Skate School and Darwin DJ Hire for a Roller Disco Skate night in front of the Ferris Wheel at Stokes Hill Wharf. If you can’t skate very well, that’s ok as Darwin Skate School are there to help you learn and have some fun. A pop up roller rink to create an enclosed space will be set up for safety. Bring your own skates! Free event.
Family Fun Entertainment – Sunday 3rd October
At the Precinct Lawns (Darwin Waterfront) from 1:00pm – 4:00pm on Sunday 3rd, join the team from Tip Top Circus who will be bringing the fun of magic and games for the whole family to enjoy. Free event.
Farm Yard Fun – Wednesday 6th October
On Wednesday 6th from 10am till 12 noon at the Precinct Lawns at Darwin Waterfront. Build your own miniature farm yard with its very own miniature farm yard animals for FREE. You will get to take home what you make too! (Note: animals are not real!). Free event.
Tip Top Animals and Ponies – Friday 8th October
On Friday 8th October from 10am till 1pm at the Precinct Lawns at Darwin Waterfront. Join in all the fun this school holidays at the Darwin Waterfront with Tip Top Circus Entertainment . There is be some Magical Moments in the petting zoo where you can meet lots of cuddley critters. Take a walk on the wild side and meet some Rad Reptiles and Pretty Parrots with the team from Party Animals Darwin. There will also be pony rides, free facepainting, and craft activities. With something for everyone this is one not too be missed. Free event.
Be-Inclusive Games – Community Fun day – Friday 8th October
Music at the Lagoon – Saturday 9 October, 1pm – 4pm
Darwin Waterfront Recreation Lagoon with will alive with tunes from 1pm to 4pm. Spend the afternoon having a swim in the Recreation Lagoon with your friends. There will be FREE live music to listen to while you chill out in the water or grab some take-away and kick back in the Beach Club furniture.
Swim Dynamics – School holiday swim lesson intensives
Give your child’s swimming and water confidence a boost this April school holidays by participating in Swim Dynamics School holiday intensive program. They will build water confidence, skill development and keep the kids active & busy! Let’s face it, there’s no better place to be than in the water in this weather!
Choose from group classes or arrange private one-on-one sessions with one of their awesome instructors. Lessons are scheduled between 8.30am & 12.30pm (exact time dependent on level) at Nightcliff Pool. October Holiday Program dates will be 27th to 1st Oct (Wk 1), 4th to 8th Oct (Wk 2) and be 3 classes each wk (Mon, Wed, Friday)

Surf Life Saving NT
Have a whole host of activities and sessions available for kids at Leanyer Recreation park, Darwin Waterfront, Palmerston Skate park and Palmerston waterpark. They will host 3×3 basketball competitions, skateboarding lessons, children’s circus tricks and giant bubbles, pool party DJs, all the food vans and Malak Marketplace stalls, live music, sports activities and more! Taminmin Community Library
Taminimin Community Library located at 70 Challoner Cct Humpty Doo. These holidays they will have lego club, paint and create sessions, fairy jill, movies and more! Check out their Facebook page for more information and to book your spots.
City of Darwin Libraries
City of Darwin Libraries will be hosting loads of FREE fun for the kids these holidays! From movies steam zone, story times, lego club, art and crafts and more, there is lots to see and do at City of Darwin in the September and October School Holidays 2021! Spaces to events will be limited. Events are ticketed and tickets will be available at the door 30 minutes prior to the sessions starting. Check out some of the program below. Youth NT
The Office of Youth Affairs publishes calendars to promote a wide range of activities and events happening across the Territory in the School Holiday. From Shak to the streets, heaps of sports, VR and more. Check out the full Darwin program here and Palmerston program here
Corrugated Iron

Leanyer Recreation Park
Another great option to keep the kids busy and cool these school holidays is to visit Leanyer Recreation park. It is a FREE water recreation park located at 215 Vanderlin Drive Leanyer. The Park consists of dry and wet recreational areas. The wet area includes a swimming lagoon (shallow in many areas – great for toddlers and young children).
There are three new massive water slides for the older kids and a wet playground that is great for all ages. There are large grassed areas for play, BBQ’s, a dry playground, skate park and basketball courts. The Park has lots of shaded areas including over the pool, the wet play area, the skate park and the grassed areas. There are toilets and change room facilities.
Opening hours during the school holidays are:
9am to 8pm – grassed area and BBQ’s
10am to 6pm – wet play area
11am to 6pm – water slides
Palmerston Water Park
10am to 6pm – wet play area
11am to 6pm – water slide
Playshack Palmerston
Why not head into the Playshack located in the Hub complex Palmerston (Shop 7, 3 Maluka Drive). Let the kids run and burn their energy and you can enjoy a coffee or drink and a slice of Petra’s Raw cakes available for purchase. The Playshack have extended during school holidays. Their hours will be 8.30 am till 4 pm Monday – Friday. Plus the usual weekend times of Saturday 9 till 5 pm and Sunday 10 am till 4 pm. Entry is only $9.90 per child during the week and bubs under 1 are free. Please remember your socks! Closed Public holidays.
Darwin Ice Skating Centre – special offers!
Our friends at Darwin Ice Skating Centre have some great special offers always on for families! You can skate 1 Parent & 1 Child (5yrs and under) for just $24. Or a family pass of 2 Adults & 2 Children (between 6 Years & 14 Years) is $60.00.
If you buy a pre-paid pass for 10 sessions and receive a 20% discount off the total price. They also have loyalty cards where after 10 skating sessions, you’ll be able to skate for free on the 11th visit. Check out their school holiday ice skate session times here
