Are you ready for our Darwin April School holidays 2025 ? We have a short one week break for public schools. Students will return to school for Term 2 2025 on Tuesday 15th April (public schools check with your private/Indepent schools for their return date). Easter will be from Good Friday on 18th April to Easter Monday on 21st April and students back to school on Tuesday 22nd April.

Top End Multi Sports – April School holidays program
TEMS have their popular sports holiday program back for April holidays break. For the best holiday fun, book your kids into their holiday program where they have a variety of sports and activities to keep your kids entertained! Whether your kid is a beginner or expert player, their school holiday program provides for all levels of ability. They can expect lots of fun, learn a skill and much more.
Program consists of: Soccer, tennis, volleyball, swimming, movie time and more. Daily activities have flexibility to suit children. For ages 5+ 8am to 4pm (half days and earlier starts available on request)
Monday 7th to Friday 11th April
Cost is $300 for full 5 days/week or $75 per day

Children’s Tour | From Jaws to Claws – Tuesday 8 April – 11am to 12pm
The Natural Science gallery, ‘Transformations: the changing nature of the territory’, is a special place in the Museum where you can discover multiple crocodiles, touch real fossils and learn about marine stingers and the mini monsters that live in the Northern Territory. Join MAGNT Curator Emeritus of Molluscs, Dr Richard Willan, for an exciting tour through this gallery.

Children’s Field Trip | Buffalo Creek – Wednesday 9 April – 8am to 12pm
Embark on a field trip with the MAGNT Education Team and learn how to identify different types of rocks, sediments and shells. Put your knowledge into practice as we traverse different paths and the beach, from Buffalo Creek to Lee Point and back again.
The field bus will depart MAGNT at 8am and return by 11am where the experience will continue in the Discovery Centre.

Youth program | MAGNT After Dark – Insects of the Tropics – Thursday 10 April 5pm to 9pm
Join the MAGNT Education team and explore the museum after dark. View invertebrates in the Tiny Territory exhibition, experiment with macro photography and learn other creative ways to look at insects in the Discovery Centre. Discuss creepy-crawlies with likeminded entomologists over dinner then watch a documentary in the Theatrette.

Sunday Funday | STEAM Building Skills – Sunday 13th April
Step inside the Discovery Centre and develop new skills through a series of fun activities that give children a chance to explore science, technology, engineering and maths.
Co-designed by MAGNT STEAM Lead Educator, Caitlin Conway, and Education Students from Charles Darwin University, this hands-on workshop is perfect for children with curious and creative minds who want to discover new things and build STEAM skills.

Ever wanted to learn hip-hop dance? Kick off the April school holidays with a high-energy street dance workshop led by B-Girl Nat and B-Boy Ricky! City of Palmerston library is running recording sessions in the Gulwa Recording Studio. Bookings are essential! This program will be in partnership with local music producer/audio engineer, Danny Christie, Who is a Mix with the Masters graduate having worked alongside Tchad Blake Grammy-winning engineers and has over 20 years of working in the music industry across Europe and Australia.
The purpose of this youth week activity is to provide safe and secure education/entertainment opportunities during NT Youth Week 2025, provide youth-friendly engagement, and involve young people at all levels. The program aims to encourage the development of skills and attributes such as self-esteem, cooperation and trust for young people in a safe environment. This is your chance to bring your creative ideas to life in a professional environment for FREE!

Playshack Palmerston
Why not head into the Playshack located in the Hub complex Palmerston (Shop 7, 3 Maluka Drive). Let the kids run and burn their energy on the massive indoor playground and you can enjoy a coffee or drink and a snacks available for purchase. Their hours during school holidays will be 8.30 am till 2 pm Monday – Friday, plus the usual weekend times of Saturday 9 am till 2pm and Sunday 10 am till 4 pm. Entry is only $9.90 per child and bubs under 1 are free with an older sibling (or $3). Please remember your socks!
Palmerston Water Park
The SHAK Youth Hub – at Sanderson Middle School
A drop in youth space for all young people with no registration required, a variety of activities, food and transportation home provided. Food and transport home provided. Good Friday this year falls on 18th April (most shops and places are closed this day), till Easter Monday on 21st (both are public holidays).

Start the weekend at this FREE Easter eggstravaganza! The Easter Bunny has a basket of chocolates just for you! Solve the clues and collect stamps from each hunt stop, to receive it.
There will be TWO Easter Egg Hunt sessions this year, with plenty of entertainment in-between…

Annual Easter Fest Markets – Saturday 19th April
The Kalymnian Broherhood Darwin is hosing its annual Easter Fest with Indoor markets at 46 Batten Road Marrara from 10am to 6pm. Join them for a family fun day with lots of activities for the kids and heaps of entertainment, great food and sweets plus shopping for Easter and gifts.
Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday 19th April
Head to Cullen Bay lawns from 4pm for an Easter Egg Hunt, fun games, food and music until 6pm. They will also have the rather splendid Easter Egg chair all day Sunday as well, so plenty of photo opportunities.
Easter Egg Hunt and Facepaiting – Wednesday 9th April
Happening in Smith Street Mall during the school holidays on Wednesday 9th April from 10am to 12pm. Get ready for an egg-citing Easter egg hunt, where kids can search for hidden treasures! After the hunt, stop by the face painting station, where a talented artist will transform little faces into bunnies, butterflies, and more.
