Are you ready for our Easter and April School holidays 2024? Easter will be from Good Friday 29th March to Easter Monday 1st April. Then kids will be at school for a few days and last day of Term 1 is Friday 5th of April.

School holidays will start on Saturday 6th April (for Darwin public schools, private and independent school holidays may be slightly different – please check with your school).  Students will return to school for Term 2 on Tuesday 16th April (public schools).

Easter at Darwin Waterfront!

Easter Eggstravaganza – Saturday 30th March
Follow the trail of our Easter Bunny and collect as many chocolate eggs as you can! You’ll find so many magical surprises along the way, a bunny disco and glitter face painting, a petting zoo, jumping castles, balloon animals, and the Easter Bunny himself! From 9am to 1pm at the Darwin Waterfront all FREE!
Live Music on the Lawns – Saturday 30th, Sunday 31st March and Monday 1st April
Great news for all music lovers! They have gathered a fantastic line-up of local musos that will keep you entertained all weekend with their tunes. Palm Grove will turn into a mini music festival just for you! And best of all its FREE! From 9am to 1pm and 5pm to 9pm on Saturday, 5pm to 9pm on Sunday and Monday at the Darwin Waterfront.
Beach Party with ‘the Y’ – Monday 1st April
Wrap up the Easter weekend celebrations with an epic Beach Party here at the Waterfront Rec Lagoon! Lots of exciting water-based activities that will entertain the whole family, suitable for kids aged 4 to 17. Think games, water sports, music, carnival style pool inflatables, jumping castles and more! It’s FREE, and we promise it’s not April’s fool! Great family friendly event from 10am to 1pm at the Darwin Waterfront.
Easter at Hibiscus Shoppingtown – Saturday 30th March 
Join in on Saturday 30 March to celebrate with a FREE delicious hot cross bun brekky from 10.30am! Easter Bunny will be making an appearance with chocolate goodies to share from 11.30am – 12.30pm! There will be lots of fun for the whole family with face painting, glitter tattoos and colouring in activities.
The Eggs-Stravaganzza Hunt – Sunday 31st March
The Palmerston Golf and Country Club Annual Easter Egg-Stravaganzza Hunt has returned. Buffet Breakfast from 8am- 10:30am with a visit from the Easter Bunny at 10am.
Berry Springs Easter Market and Grand reopening – Sunday 31st March
Berry Springs Market will be re-opening on Sunday 31st March 8am – 12 Noon. This will be a special Easter Market and there will be all your favourite stalls: Craft * Art * Spices * Preserves * Plants * 2nd hand * Clothes * Food stalls * Fresh coffee * Smoothies * Cakes as well as Easter themed activities.
Easter Family Fun Day – Sunday 31st March
Bring the family down and join the Darwin Sailing Club for lunch this Easter from 11am.
Plenty for the whole family including; food specials, Easter egg hunt, colouring in and a visit from a special someone … the Easter bunny 🐰Book your table online now and don’t miss out!
Easter Social – Sunday 31st March
Top End Mustangs Line Dancing Darwin will be hosting Easter social at CWA Hall (27 Bishop Street Winnellie).  There will be an Easter fashion parade with prizes for best outfit/bonnet.
Bring a small plate to share from 2pm to 5pm.
Easter weekend at Howard Springs Tavern 
The EASTER long weekend is approaching FAST and Howard Springs Tavern is bringing you a weekend full of entertainment.
SATURDAY 30th March – Live Music – Fame Junkies from 7pm
SUNDAY 31st March – Fairy Jill for kids! 1-3pm. Free Basket of Eggs – with meal purchase! Social Club Raffle Draw. Live Music – Scott Murphy 1-5pm
EASTER MONDAY 1st April – Live Music – Harry Mellios 1-5pm
Easter Sunrise Service – Sunday 31st March
A beautiful way to start Easter Sunday. A service to contemplate the mystery of an empty tomb with a saxophone and a sunrise. All are welcome to join at 6.30am at Goyder Park (the Deckchair Cinema end of Kitchener Drive) unless of course it’s raining, then we will see you in the church (Darwin Memorial Uniting Church)

Top End Multi Sports – April School holidays program

Looking for school holiday fun? Keep your kids entertained & active these school holidays with our multi sports program. TEMS have their popular sports holiday program back for one week in the April holidays break. Join them for an action packed weeks of sports including: Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball (optional) + Pool & Movie Time. Their coaching staff will provide a safe environment for children to develop their sporting skills through games, skill sessions, drills whilst having bucket loads of fun. For ages 5+ 8am to 4pm (half days and earlier starts available on request)

Monday 8th April to Friday 12th April, Cost is $300 for 5 days or $75 per day

Board Game night – Friday 5th April
Board game night is on from 5:30 to 7:30pm at Alliance Française de Darwin (17 Chapman Rd, Rapid Creek). Head along, they have a couple of new games and they are now serving french wines and Pastis (to be purchased on site) along with nibbles (free for all attendees).

Royal Existence – Pyjama Party Dance Camp – Wednesday 10th April

Do your kids hate getting outta their PJ’s during the school holidays? Sign them up for a Pyjama Party dance camp and they won’t have too!! Royal Existence Dance Academy is running a full day dance camp to help you entertain them. Suitable for kids aged 6 – 11 yrs and running from 9am-4pm Wednesday 10th April. Book the kids in for a day filled with Dance, Games, Movies and Crafts. Tickets can be purchased here

FREEZE Skate – Wednesday 10th April

This FREE skating session is exclusively for teenagers. Bring your friends! Bookings essential as places are limited. Ages 12-20 only from 5:30-7pm at Darwin Ice Skating Centre. Clubhouse Territory

Clubhouse Territory – Community Fun Day Thursday 11th April                            Clubhouse Territory is proud to present the Be-Inclusive Games – Community Day. A FREE Community Fun Day for all ages! Come and be part of an activity-loaded day on Thursday 11th April 2024 from 9am to 1pm. There will be come-n-try sessions, games & clinics, & plenty of children’s entertainment. So, come and join us at the Territory Netball Stadium for another Be-Inclusive Games! Surf and Sail – Thursday 11th April
FREE Surf & Sail at Lake Alexander from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on 11th April. For ages 6 & up!
No Booking required – just wear bathers/clothes that can get wet. Parent/Guardian required to sign waiver on arrival and supervise. Go for a sail and have a paddle in the FREE school holiday fun session!
MAGNIFY: art/beats/food – Friday 12th April
A sunset micro-festival with food, music and market stalls featuring pre-loved clothing and handcrafted delights. Free to attend. This celebration of creativity has something for everyone. Alphonsus music studio

Alphonsus Kindermusik sessions – Saturday 13th April                                                  Alphonsus is running fun and engaging Kindermusik Classes during these school holidays. These classes only run exclusively during the holidays and it caters for the WHOLE FAMILY with children from 0 to 7 Years. There will be three different sessions available; Kindermusik for older kids (4.5-7yrs), Kindermusik family event (0-5yrs) and Kindermusik for infants.  All classes will be held at the Community Room at Casuarina Square Shopping Centre. Gaming after Dark (with XR VR Gaming) – Sunday 14th April                                      Gaming After Dark is a safe, action-packed and inclusive place for young people aged 12-17 to hang out and play casual setups, compete in low stakes esports competitions, socialise and make new friends. Gaming After Dark is for young people aged 12-17 held at Casuarina Library 6:30 to 8:30pm, snacks provided.

NT Youth Week events –  6th to 17th April

Northern Territory Youth Week (NTYW) is the largest celebration of young people aged 12 to 25 years old, with hundreds of activities and events happening across the Territory. Check out all the events happening here

City of Palmerston Library Holidays program

Explore, learn, and ignite your imagination with the City of Palmerston Library School Holiday Program! All sessions are FREE for ages 6-11 & activities kick off 10AM DAILY. From arts and crafts to interactive learning sessions, the program features a diverse range of engaging activities.

Fun in the Parks 

Fun in the Parks is a school holiday program that is full of fun activities and operates every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during school holidays, except on public holidays. All families are welcome to come along and have some fun. For more info on their holiday sessions head here

Leanyer Recreation Park

Another great option to keep the kids busy and cool these Darwin December and January School holidays is to visit Leanyer Recreation park. It is a FREE water recreation park located at 215 Vanderlin Drive Leanyer. The Park consists of dry and wet recreational areas. The wet area includes a swimming lagoon (shallow in many areas – great for toddlers and young children), three massive water slides for the older kids.  There are large, grassed areas for play, BBQ’s, a dry playground, skate park and basketball courts. The Park has lots of shaded areas including over the pool, the wet play area, the skate park and the grassed areas. There are toilets and change room facilities. 
Opening hours during the school holidays are:

Wet Play & Lagoon from 10am
Slides from 11am
Park closes at 6pm
the playshack

Playshack Palmerston

Why not head into the Playshack located in the Hub complex Palmerston (Shop 7, 3 Maluka Drive). Let the kids run and burn their energy on the massive indoor playground and you can enjoy a coffee or drink and a snacks available for purchase. Their hours during school holidays will be 8.30 am till 2 pm Monday – Friday, plus the usual weekend times of Saturday 9 am till 2pm and Sunday 10 am till 4 pm. Entry is only $9.90 per child and bubs under 1 are free with an older sibling (or $3). Please remember your socks!

Palmerston Water Park

Palmerston Water Park is the second water park in Darwin. It also FREE and open seven days a week. Located at Cnr University Ave and Roystonea Ave (access via Roystonea Ave). The water park includes a 14 metre high – 100 metre long – six-line racer water slide, a wet play area for families and toddlers featuring sprays, water curtains and a shallow wading pool. Another wet play area for teenagers featuring more active water cannons, buckets and high intensity interactive play, a café, toilets and change room facilities, open grassed play area with BBQs, shaded areas and a skate park. Closed Christmas Day.
Opening hours during the school holidays are:
Park from 9am
Wet Play from 10am
Slides from 11am
Park closes at 6pm

The SHAK Youth Hub – at Sanderson Middle School

A drop in youth space for all young people with no registration required, a variety of activities, food and transportation home provided. Food and transport home provided. From 12pm most days of the school holidays till late. For 10-17yr olds. Sanderson Middle School is located at 60 Matthews Road Malak. Check out their Facebook page for holiday event details here
