Our secret tricks for busy Mums juggling life!

calendar

Does not matter if you are juggling one kid or multiple kids. There is a lot of multitasking and organisation that comes with running a household and being a Mum! Lucky for me time management and organisation are two of my strengths so juggling my tribe of kids and their needs and demands has become second nature. I often get told “I don’t know how you do it.”

But for some people being organised does not come naturally or is more challenging. Today I decided to share some of my secret tricks on how I manage to remember everything and keep up with my busy life as a Mum of four munchkins.

To all the Mums out there having an overwhelming sh*t week

mum and baby

Overwhelming moments as Mum. It is real. It is freaking hard. This week has been extremely hard for me.. I am going to be very honest. I feel like shouting at the world – I have had too much! Go away and let me curl up in bed and sleep for a week! I feel like it has just been one thing after another. All piling up on each other and I am desperately trying to crawl my way back up from the bottom of the pile. I feel like my tiny voice is not being heard by my partner….that I need help…..have you felt this too? Do you feel you are last on the overwhelming long list? I swear sometimes social media only “highlights the best” of people’s lives and it can make us feel alone and like the only one feeling like we do. But we are not alone. Many of us feel the same way – but just have to open up a little.

School Holiday Guide for Darwin Palmerston and surrounds – Keep the kids busy this December and January!

Christmas school holiday

It is a little hard to believe that school is about to finish up for the year and go into holiday mode! I still remember the first day of school when I sent my twin boys off for their first day of preschool at the start of this year! Such a big moment in their little lives. School holidays sort of bring a love hate relationship with them. While as parents you welcome the break to routine – the early rises, the lunch box packing, the washing and ironing of uniforms (well no ironing in my house lol)  the constant after school activities and commitments. Consequently on the flip side you then also have to entertain them. Sure you can laze about the house for some days but if your kids are anything like mine – they start to drive you up the wall and need to go out and do an activity or go somewhere.

We have rounded up some great free or reasonably priced activities to keep your sanity and keep the kids busy these school holidays! Don’t forget our blog on 20 easy home activities to also keep your little ones entertained!

When good things came made with love and still cost 5c

ice cream

I grew up in the long, hot, dry summers of Country Victoria. It was relentless, oppressive heat. It was hot northerly winds that burnt your nose when you took a breath and it was brown land and dead grass as far as the eye could see. Mum and Dad worked hard to put food on the table. Dad on the farm from sun up to sun down. Mum in town, selling first office equipment and later cars. There wasn’t much room in the budget for luxuries like ice cream or air conditioning.

Self-care made simple, quick and meaningful for busy mums

Mum Self care

With our limited time and energy, we’re trying to make sure our little humans survive and thrive. We’re earnestly trying to meet the standards we set for ourselves, and that we take on from the world around us. Standards that are often unrealistic and overwhelming. We’re dealing with a sea of (often contradictory) information, to guide us. Our minds never stop thinking, planning, reflecting, wondering, worrying, and dealing with life.

Before we know it, looking after ourselves is at the bottom of our to-do list. In fact, we might not even have made it onto the list at all.

This isn’t a sustainable way to live your life.
