National Children’s Week 2019

Children's Week 2019

Sharing is caring!

Did you know National Children’s Week is right around the corner? During this week it is a time to celebrate our kids and showcase their talents and abilities. I’m always looking for ways to encourage my kids in their interests and abilities. It is a daily occurrence at the moment that I bring home multiple “creations” from school with my boys in transition. My big girl loves to paint and draw so I am looking forward to entering my kids in the City of Darwin’s Children’s week artwork Exhibition. There will also be heaps of family fun events happening to celebrate children’s week 2019.

National Children’s Week 2019 is an annual event celebrated in Australia held around the fourth Wednesday in October. A wide range of events and activities are organised throughout Australia and also at a local level throughout the Territory. National Children’s Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is also a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities.

These school holidays it is the perfect opportunity to get crafty with your little ones and enter a masterpiece into the artwork exhibition.

Children’s Artwork Exhibition

Children's Week 2019

I am looking forward to taking my family along to the grand opening of the Children’s Artwork Exhibition, which will be on Saturday 19 October 2019, from 9.30am till 11.30am. There will be children’s entertainment, activities, lucky door prize and morning tea. The exhibition will be on display at the First Floor of the Civic Centre on Harry Chan Avenue in the city. The exhibition will be on display from Monday 21 October to Friday 15th November 2019.

Individual or Group works are accepted. So why not get your kids doing their own project or a combined family entry! All types of artwork are welcome from drawing, painting, printing, collage, sculpture, ceramic, photography and digital art!

The possibilities are endless!

This exhibition is a great opportunity for children to display their unique creative expression to the community. Art in all kinds of mediums encourage children to create, self-express, develop imagination, build self-esteem and confidence. The benefits are many and varied, as children delight in the satisfaction of newly created artwork.

How to enter?

Simply drop off your artwork between Friday 11th and Monday 14th October at the Civic Centre. For full Terms and Conditions please see here. Artwork to be picked up between 18th to 20th November.
