Darwin Easter and April School holidays 2022 break is fast approaching! School holidays will start on Monday 11th April (for Darwin public schools) and Easter break is Good Friday on 15th April to Easter Monday 18th April. (Private and Independent school holidays may be slightly different – please check with your school).  Students will return to school for Term 2 on 19th April 2022!

Gaming After Dark – Friday 8th April

Hang out and play casual setups, compete in small Esports competitions, socialise and be around friendly like-minded people! For ages 12-17 at Casuarina Library, 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Casuarina Pool – Pool Party – Saturday 9th April

Come and celebrate the start of the Easter school holidays at the Casuarina Swimming Pool. FREE entry on Saturday 9th from 3pm to 6pm there will be an inflatable run, DJ, BBQ, fun and games and lots more!

Street Heat 2022 – Saturday 9th April

Street Heat is an all-inclusive, family-friendly Skate Competition, open to ALL skaters, scooter riders, roller skaters, inline skaters, and BMX riders. Registrations open at 3pm at Jingili Skate Park

Nightcliff Pool Party – Sunday 10th April

Come and celebrate the start of the Easter school holidays at the Nightcliff Swimming Pool. FREE entry on Sunday 10th from 3pm to 6pm there will be an inflatable run, DJ, BBQ, fun and games and lots more!

Hilton Art Classes – Sunday 10th to Saturday 16th April

Art Educator Moniba Malik will be holiday several holiday Art classes at the Hilton Darwin. From Sunday 10th April to Saturday 16th April (except Tuesday 12th) from 11am to 12:30pm.

Wholesome DIY Art Classes, where your children can create their pair of creative clocks, dry clay trays and bowls or bring home a self-painted cuddly cushion or a glow in the dark shirt or shoe. A great event to have fun and get creative. This event requires no previous skills and is suitable for everyone. Parents are most welcome to attend and be the supportive audience. Top End Multi Sports – Monday 11th to Thursday 14th April

TEMS have their popular sports holiday program back in April. For the best holiday fun, book your kids into their Holiday Program where they have a variety of sports and activities to keep your kids entertained!

She Flourishes – Confidence and Resilience Workshop – Monday 11th April

She Flourishes is hosting a FREE Confidence and Resilience Workshop for young females aged 12 to 15 years, as part of their school holiday program. Emma Warren from She Flourishes, is a qualified Young Female Empowerment Coach who empowers, supports and inspires young females to gain self-confidence, tap into their best self and create a life they absolutely love. Northern Suburbs 3×3 Basketball – 12th and 14th April

All things streetball hitting the courts in the suburbs. 3×3 basketball, games, activities and prizes. Great sounds, great feed, great fun. Food will be provided. Larrakia Drop offs will be available after 5pm. For kids aged 10-17, from 5pm to 9pm at Chrisp Street Rapid Creek Basketball Courts. 

Youth Week Esports Open 2022 – Thursday 14th April

Next Tier Gaming and Esports returns for Youth Week with an exclusive event for youth that are into all things gaming and esports. There will be casual gaming stations, an arcade zone, tournaments to compete in with games such as Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros Ult, Rocket League and more! From 12 noon to 6pm at Tracy Village Sports and Social Club – Function Room. For kids aged 12 -1 7, cost is $15 per person.

Go Nights! Friday Nights

Girls only drop in space – from 4pm to 8pm. Free workshops, dinner and bus home. Free entry for females only ages 10-17 at 16 Malak Crescent, Malak (old KJs). Go Nights are hosted by Two Two One Mental health charity.

The Shak holiday program – various dates

Youth activities and food will be provided. For kids aged 10-17, held at Sanderson Middle school from 12 to 6pm. Larrakia can drop off  home after 5pm. Runs from Saturday 9th April, every day of the week (except Sundays). Free event and no registrations required.

Darwin Waterfront – Waterworld

Leanyer Recreation Park

Another great option to keep the kids busy and cool these Darwin Easter and April school holidays 2022 is to visit Leanyer Recreation park. It is a FREE water recreation park located at 215 Vanderlin Drive Leanyer. The Park consists of dry and wet recreational areas. The wet area includes a swimming lagoon (shallow in many areas – great for toddlers and young children), three massive water slides for the older kids and a wet playground that is great for all ages. There are large grassed areas for play, BBQ’s, a dry playground, skate park and basketball courts. The Park has lots of shaded areas including over the pool, the wet play area, the skate park and the grassed areas. There are toilets and change room facilities. 

Opening hours during the school holidays are:
9am to 8pm – grassed area and BBQ’s
10am to 6pm – wet play area
11am to 6pm – water slides

Palmerston Water Park

Palmerston Water Park is the second water park in Darwin. It also FREE and open seven days a week. Located at Cnr University Ave and Roystonea Ave (access via Roystonea Ave). The water park includes a 14 metre high – 100 metre long – six-line racer water slide, a wet play area for families and toddlers featuring sprays, water curtains and a shallow wading pool. Another wet play area for teenagers featuring more active water cannons, buckets and high intensity interactive play, a café, toilets and change room facilities, open grassed play area with BBQs, shaded areas and a skate park.
Opening hours during the school holidays are:
9am to 6pm – grassed area and BBQ’s
10am to 6pm – wet play area
11am to 6pm – water slide

Playshack Palmerston

Why not head into the Playshack located in the Hub complex Palmerston (Shop 7, 3 Maluka Drive). Let the kids run and burn their energy and you can enjoy a coffee or drink and a snacks available for purchase. The Playshack have extended during school holidays. Their hours will be 8.30 am till 2 pm Monday – Friday, plus the usual weekend times of Saturday 9 am till 5 pm and Sunday 10 am till 4 pm. Entry is only $9.90 per child during the week and bubs under 1 are free. Please remember your socks! Closed Easter

Darwin Ice Skating Centre – special offers!

Our friends at Darwin Ice Skating Centre have some great special offers always on for families! You can skate 1 Parent & 1 Child (5yrs and under) for just $24. Or a family pass of  2 Adults & 2 Children (between 6 Years & 14 Years) is $60.00.

If you buy a pre-paid pass for 10 sessions and receive a 20% discount off the total price. They also have loyalty cards where after 10 skating sessions, you’ll be able to skate for free on the 11th visit.

Museum and Art Gallery Northern Territory (MAGNT)

The Museum and Art Gallery NT (located at 19 Conacher St) is another great place to take the kids and keep them entertained for a few hours in air conditioning! My kids love visiting the turtles next to the main entrance and there is always interesting new exhibitions and the same old favourites.  Entry to the MAGNT is free and they are open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4pm and Sundays open 10am till 5pm. Closed Good Friday.

At the moment there is new exhibition called Walking through a Songline.

Follow in the steps of the Seven Sisters and experience the immersive nature of a songline in this multi-sensory digital installation. Songlines, or Dreaming tracks, map the routes of Ancestral beings as they travelled across Australia, creating the land and its people.

Easter Activities – Good Friday 15th to Easter Monday 18th April

We are going on a bunny hunt!

Remember when COVID first started – and everyone started putting Teddies out for people to drive around and spot with their kids? For those that don’t know it. It’s where you leave a teddy (bunny) located somewhere for little ones to look for it. Like on the letter box, in a windows, in a tree anywhere without needing to enter the property. Join in the fun, find the bunny map and addresses to drive by in this Facebook group!

Celebrate Easter in Darwin City – Saturday 9th April

Bring the family to enjoy activities at Raintree Park by Tip Top Circus Entertainment including Easter art and craft, face painting and petting zoo. Easter Bunny will also be present to kick off the Easter Egg Hunt around the city shops from 10 am to 2pm.

Bush to Beach Nature Based Programs – Easter weekend

Bush to beach will be hosting some fun filled programs for little ones in Palmerston. Check their Facebook page for more details soon.

Territory Wildlife Park – Good Friday Easter markets – Friday 15th April

Visit the Territory Wildlife Park this Easter, they are open all Easter long weekend. Free entry to markets only, from 9am to 1pm on Good Friday 15th April. Market and Park is normally entry fees or you can use your membership.

Kids Easter Party – Saturday 16th April

Head to the Palmerston Tavern for the Kids Easter Party on Saturday 16th from 5pm to 8pm. Kids activities will include; cupcake decorating and a Easter egg hunt. Book your table now so you don’t miss out on this great Kids Easter Party!!!

Easter Family Fun Day – Sunday 17th April

Come and join in the FREE FAMILY FUN this Easter at the Darwin Sailing Club on Sunday 17th from 11am to 2pm. They have a special guest joining us and you get to meet him to! It’s the Easter Bunny. They will have loads of games to keep the kids entertained and some special Easter prizes! Check out the Colouring competition too (details on this page)!

Easter Sunday at the Precinct – Sunday 17th April

Visit the Precinct for their EASTER KIDS DAY with Kids activities with Wild Life Sanctuary from 12pm including; Easter Craft Station, animals, kids trivia, egg painting, egg hunt and live music.
