Darwin April School holidays 2021 break is fast approaching! We will have one week break for Darwin public schools.  Starting Saturday 10th April (Private and Independent school holidays may be slightly different – please check with your school).  Students will return to school on 19th April 2021 for Term 2!

Casuarina Square 

There is heaps happening at Casuarina these April School holidays from the 12th to the 18th, explore their maze, jump on board the Casuarina Egg-spress and enjoy free kids activities! BE A-MAZED – Grab the riddle from the Information Desk and find your way through their Maze! Take your completed riddle to the Information Desk to claim a prize. On daily from 9am to 5pm, set up Near Bed Bath N’ Table.

MAD HATTER’S CREATIVE CORNER with Yenz will be on each day from 11am to 1pm. Each day the Mad Hatter’s Creative corner will have different kids activities including sweet treat balloons, free tea time flamingos, mad hatters delight and much more! The Casuarina Egg-spress train will be running Sunday 11th April, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th April – starting near Priceline. The One day shopping festival is happening on Saturday 17th April! Top End Multi Sports

TEMS will have their popular sports holiday program back this April. Running for the week from Monday 12th to Friday 16th of April. For ages 5 and over –  Daily program or book in for the week. $60 per day or $250 for the five days.

Program consists of: Soccer, tennis, volleyball, pool time and more. Daily activities have flexibility to suit children. From 8am till after 4pm. The holiday program will be held at Top End Multi Sports Centre at 110 Old McMillans Rd Coconut Grove.

The Planet Tenpin

You may have heard the sad news that after over 40 years of operation, The Planet Tenpin is due to shut its doors…….So get in for a last visit these school holidays and until they close their doors in early May! The Planet Tenpin is always a great family friendly venue and I know it will be sadly missed by many!

City of Darwin Libraries

City of Darwin Library events will have limited space. Events are ticketed and tickets will be available at the door 30 minutes prior to the sessions starting (unless otherwise noted in the program). One ticket per family. Check out the program below.

Rollarama and Roller Bop – Skate sessions

Shiner Town and Darwin Skate school are hosting two awesome skate sessions these Darwin April School holidays 2021. No structured lessons, just a cool place to skate your heart out to great tunes.
Sessions are 12pm to 2pm on Monday 12th (10am to 12pm) and Friday 16th (3pm to 5pm) at Marrara Indoor Stadium, tickets are $10 per skater. No skate hire is available. Helmets and safety gear optional but highly recommended especially for Under 16. BYO Drinks (no food please). Head here to book your tickets.
Roller Bob is on Friday 16th April from 7pm to 9pm a big open skate party for the grownups (and teenagers) so get together and ROLLER BOP the night away to great tunes and funky vibes at Marrara Indoor Stadium. Recommended for ages 15+, tickets are $20 per person.

City of Palmerston Library

All activities are free and start from 2.00pm every day, there will be a range of FREE activities for school-aged children to enjoy. All participants are to adhere to the current COVID-19 safety guidelines. No bookings required but make sure to collect a ticket from our front desk 15 minutes prior to a session starting to join in. Sessions limited to 25 children. See the daily activities below:

Wednesday 14 April: Bush to Beach Nature with Cherie Cameron

Swim Dynamics – School holiday swim lesson intensives

Give your child’s swimming and water confidence a boost this April school holidays by participating in Swim Dynamics School holiday intensive program. They will build water confidence, skill development and keep the kids active & busy! Let’s face it, there’s no better place to be than in the water in this weather!

Choose from group classes or arrange private one-on-one sessions with one of their awesome instructors. ​Lessons are scheduled between 8.30am & 12.30pm (exact time dependent on level) at Nightcliff Pool.

April Holiday Program dates will be 12th to 16th and be 3 classes (Mon, Wed, Friday)

Taminimin Community Library located at 70 Challoner Cct Humpty Doo. From Slime party, Lego club, nature wands and crowns and a movie! Check out their Facebook page for more information and to book your spots.

Youth NT

National Youth Week (NTYW) 2021 will run from 9-18 April 2021. The theme this year is “It’s Your Tomorrow”, will encourage young Territorian’s vision for a healthy future, celebrate culture and diversity and motivate innovative ideas.

From 9-18th of April 2021, DarwinBus and AsBus is providing a free ride during NT Youth Week! Just show the image below:

The Office of Youth Affairs publishes calendars to promote a wide range of activities and events happening across the Territory in the School Holiday. From Shaktivities, Dance, Hoops 4 Health Basketball, Street heat skating and more. Check out the full Darwin program here and Palmerston program here

TopEnd Kids Events – Young Brand Ambassadors workshops

Help your kids build their confidence & self-esteem while learning life long skills at the Young Ambassador Workshops run by TopEnd Kids Events. In a fun, engaging & interactive way they’ll learn about:

💚 Creating their own unique style & embracing their beauty both inside and out

For kids aged 7 – 15 years. The 2 Day course includes Lunch both days, Afternoon Tea both days and a Gift to take home. Each student attending will also receive a personalised certificate of achievement. Coolalinga Central – Dream Believe Create School holiday fun

Every day enjoy the school holiday fun FREE workshops at Coolalinga Centre, at 10am and 11.30am (20 kids per session).  These sessions are free but limited to 40 kids per day. Each child in the sessions can receive a $5 foodie voucher to spend at participating stores. The workshops include Dream catchers, balloon twisting, cookie decorating, young inventor workshop and much more! Plus join in the daily Catch a rainbow – treasure hunt and each child receives a treat! * Workshops are suitable for ages 6 to 12 years.

Leanyer Recreation Park

Another great option to keep the kids busy and cool these school holidays is to visit Leanyer Recreation park. It is a FREE water recreation park located at 215 Vanderlin Drive Leanyer. The Park consists of dry and wet recreational areas. The wet area includes a swimming lagoon (shallow in many areas – great for toddlers and young children).

The three massive water slides are currently being upgraded (the expected date for the slides to open to the public is this Saturday 10 April 2021) for the older kids and a wet playground that is great for all ages. There are large grassed areas for play, BBQ’s, a dry playground, skate park and basketball courts. The Park has lots of shaded areas including over the pool, the wet play area, the skate park and the grassed areas. There are toilets and change room facilities. 

Opening hours during the school holidays are:
9am to 8pm – grassed area and BBQ’s
10am to 6pm – wet play area
11am to 6pm – water slides

Palmerston Water Park

Palmerston Water Park is the second water park in Darwin. It also FREE and open seven days a week. Located at Cnr University Ave and Roystonea Ave (access via Roystonea Ave). The water park includes a 14 metre high – 100 metre long – six-line racer water slide, a wet play area for families and toddlers featuring sprays, water curtains and a shallow wading pool. Another wet play area for teenagers featuring more active water cannons, buckets and high intensity interactive play, a café, toilets and change room facilities, open grassed play area with BBQs, shaded areas and a skate park.
Opening hours during the school holidays are:
9am to 6pm – grassed area and BBQ’s
10am to 6pm – wet play area
11am to 6pm – water slide

Playshack Palmerston

Why not head into the Playshack located in the Hub complex Palmerston (Shop 7, 3 Maluka Drive). Let the kids run and burn their energy and you can enjoy a coffee or drink and a slice of Petra’s Raw cakes available for purchase. The Playshack have extended during school holidays. Their hours will be 8.30 am till 4 pm Monday – Friday, plus the usual weekend times of Saturday 9 till 5 pm and Sunday 10 am till 4 pm. Entry is only $9.90 per child during the week and bubs under 1 are free. Please remember your socks! Closed Public holidays.

Darwin Ice Skating Centre – special offers!

Our friends at Darwin Ice Skating Centre have some great special offers always on for families! You can skate 1 Parent & 1 Child (5yrs and under) for just $24. Or a family pass of  2 Adults & 2 Children (between 6 Years & 14 Years) is $60.00.

If you buy a pre-paid pass for 10 sessions and receive a 20% discount off the total price. They also have loyalty cards where after 10 skating sessions, you’ll be able to skate for free on the 11th visit.

Jape Homemaker Village

Jape Homemaker village is located at 366 Bagot Road Millner. There market/indoor playground is great for families! Best of all it is FREE and air conditioned so perfect if you need to escape the weather! They will be open from 10am-2pm Wednesdays to Sundays with new market stalls always arriving.

Zone 3

Zone 3 Darwin have got a great school holiday special to keep the kids entertained. From 10 am to 6 pm you can get 2 hours of unlimited laser tag and arcades for just $15 per child.  Head in today during the holidays! They are located at 3/70 McMinn St Darwin City!

Darwin Waterfront

The Darwin Waterfront have a huge variety of FREE activities happening in April from Pizza making at Bella, Nippers water safety sessions, Dinosaur scavenger hunt, WWII tunnel exploring Check out the full program here Some activities require bookings.

Museum and Art Gallery Northern Territory (MAGNT)

The Museum and Art Gallery NT (located at 19 Conacher St) is another great place to take the kids and keep them entertained for a few hours in air conditioning! My kids love visiting the turtles next to the main entrance and there is always interesting new exhibitions and the same old favourites.  Entry to the MAGNT is free and they are open Tuesday to Saturday 10am till 4pm and Sundays open 10am till 5pm.
