Event Details

Did you have a bizarre, memorable dream during lockdown that you’d like to see as an animation? In this five week workshop we will learn the basics and help you develop a short animation using FlipaClip—a cartooning app for mobile phones and tablets!

Join Levin Diatschenko and Jack Tinapple to explore:
– story, character and scene development
– basic animation techniques
– recording audio and creating a soundtrack.

About the Instructor

Levin Diatschenko is an award winning animator who self-taught himself FlipaClip by making a feature film on his phone. He now makes music videos for bands using the same app. His approach is hands on and D.I.Y.

What you will need

Bring along your own smartphone or tablet/iPad and a dream story that you would like to animate, up to 1 minute in length. This animation style will involve drawing. You do not need drawing skills but a willingness to have a go will help.

Age

This workshop is designed for people 15 years and over. If you are younger than this and particularly interested in animation let us know via messenger and we can discuss.

Cost

You can book for the entire five week program for a discounted rate ($40) or pay per week ($10). The workshops will build on the learning each week, working towards a completed animation in the final week. For continuity participants are encouraged to attend the whole program as opposed to dropping in and out.

Acknowledgement

These workshops have been made possible through an Arts NT Digital Adaption grant and the Darwin Community Arts Frontline program.
