Exit Art | Opening Weekend

Exit Art is a celebration of the talents and creativity of the next generation of artists and designers, presenting the very best contemporary art and design from Northern Territory Year 12 students.

Presented by the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in partnership with the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training, Exit Art reflects the diversity of the Territory’s artistic practice and practitioners, expressing universal themes of identity, place and the environment.

The finalist’s artworks represent a broad spectrum of mediums, ranging from captivating photography, immersive film, vivid paintings and innovative mixed media.

From schools in Darwin, Palmerston, Alice Springs, Katherine and Nhulunbuy, the finalists embody the next generation of visual artists, encapsulating boundless creativity and visionary expression. Themes include self-identity and culture, fantasy, politics and the environment.

In partnership with the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training, Exit Art

will open on 22 February 2025.

A panel of judges will select winners in the following categories:

Jackson’s Drawing Supplies Award

Darwin Visual Arts Award

Tactile Arts Award

Art Educators of the Northern Territory Award

Art Teachers of Media NT Award

MAGNT Foundation Award, and for the first time this year;

The Darwin Street Art Festival Award.

This year, we are excited to announce that Darwin Street Art Festival (DSAF) have come into the fold as a sponsor for Exit Art. This partnership will see one Exit Art finalist awarded a fantastic opportunity to have their work featured in DSAF in 2025!

The winners will be announced on Friday 21 February 2025.
